Are you staying positive? | 03.05.2009 IN Main BY Andrew

Or are you letting all the bad things get to you? Are you watching the stock market all day long and watching CNN and reading all of the news online? Are you getting worried, are you losing your positive outlook? Are you starting to actually believe that we may never come out of this?

I hope the answer is that you are doing your best to stay positive. I’m certainly not saying that we should bury our heads in the sand and not pay attention to what’s happening around us. Times are changing, we are in a recession, people are losing jobs…however that doesn’t mean that we should get scared and start worrying about everything. I think right now is the best time to be positive by starting with what we do have. I try and remind myself everyday how lucky I am, remind myself that I have an amazing wife and family, a house to live in and food to eat.

I’ve decided to stop watching any news on TV, no CNN or MSNBC or Fox News or anything like that. Those channels and shows are only focusing on the negative and all of the bad things happening. They don’t offer any solutions to the problems we’re in, they aren’t helpful at all. (Oh and by the way they’re trying to sell a product to us by trying to shock us into watching.)

Tim Sanders wrote a great blog entry about not creating a community of misery. He says we shouldn’t sit around with others and talk about how bad things are. He says we should take concrete steps to making our businesses more solid, cut back on expenses and figure out how to offer quality.

So what are you doing to stay positive?
